Description

Caviloro, a small tilting wall reading light

Caviloro is a short cylinder held on a ball joint above a rounded wall base, with concentric ridges circling the lit face. The head turns on the joint, so the pool of light drops onto a page or lands on a framed picture. A touch on the lamp steps the brightness through three levels and switches the light between warm, natural and cool. Lift the head off the base to charge it at a USB port, then set it back. It measures 3.0 in (7.5 cm) across and comes in wood effect, black or white.

Where to put it

Put it on the wall beside the bed or on the headboard and angle it down onto your book. It suits a hallway or an entryway, and above a desk it lights the surface from the wall. It also works over a bookshelf or a framed picture.

Mounting: Adhesive base for a smooth wall, no drilling
Use: Bedside and headboard reading, hallway, entryway, bookshelf, artwork and desk light
In the box: Two pieces, the lamp head and the adhesive wall base

How to install

The base sticks to the wall and the head sits on top of it, so nothing connects to your house electrics.

What you need: A smooth patch of wall and a clean cloth.

Choose the spot on the wall, above whatever you want lit.
Wipe it clean, then press the adhesive base into place.
Seat the head on the base, over the pivot ball.
Set the angle of the head, then step through the brightness and the light color with the touch control.

Good to know

The base stays on the wall when you lift the head off to charge it, so the spot on the wall is chosen once.
The light falls as a pool on the wall and the surface below it, so it works beside a main light in the evening.

What makes it good

A hallway or entryway wall takes it with no socket and no drill.
Above a bookshelf or a picture, the pool of light falls below the head and the shelf stays clear.
Tip the head on its ball joint to drop the light onto a book in bed or turn it back along the wall.
Set it bright over a desk in the day and low for the evening, all from the touch control.
At 3.0 in (7.5 cm) across it fits a narrow strip of wall beside a door or a bed.

GOES UP WITHOUT TOOLS

The base sticks onto a smooth wall and the head holds to it by magnet, so nothing is drilled and no tool is needed to put it up.

Wipe the spot, press the base into place and set the head on the pivot. The wall keeps its surface and the light can go where a drilled fixing would not suit.

TIP IT TOWARD THE BOOK

The head sits on a ball joint, so you can tip it until the light lands on the page you are reading.

Angled down, the light pools on the open book. Turn it back along the wall when you are not reading.

WORK LIT FROM THE WALL

Put it on the wall above a desk and the light comes from above the work surface, with nothing standing on the desk itself.

The head tips down on its joint, so the light lands as a pool on the desktop where you are working.

Common questions

Does it need wiring or an electrician?

No. It is wireless, with the power held inside the lamp, and the base sticks to the wall, so nothing touches your house electrics and no one has to open up a wall to fit it.

How does it attach to the wall?

The base is adhesive and is made for a smooth wall, so it goes up without a drill. The head then sits on the pivot ball on the base, which is what lets you angle it.

How do I charge it?

Lift the head off the base, charge it at a USB port, then press it back onto the base. The base is the part that holds to the wall.

Can I change the color of the light?

Yes. There are three settings, warm, natural and cool, and the control on the lamp switches between them.

Can I dim it, and is there a remote?

It has three brightness levels, and the control on the lamp moves between them. There is no remote with this light.

Can I point the light where I want it?

Yes. The head sits on a spherical joint, so you can drop the light onto a book or turn it back along the wall.

How big is it?

The fixture measures 3.0 in (7.5 cm) across and 1.8 in (4.5 cm) high, small enough for a bookshelf or the wall beside a bed.

Is the wood version real wood?

No. The body is ABS and PC plastic, and the wood one is a wood effect finish. Black and white finishes are the other two choices.
