Description

Lavomel, a ribbed fabric saucer wall lamp

Lavomel has a broad, flattened fabric shade. Close ribs curve in toward a small round opening underneath. The shade hangs by a white cord from a bent chrome-tone arm, which is set in a narrow walnut-toned wood bracket on the wall. Inside is one E27 LED bulb, so the lamp gives ambient and accent light to the room and isn't meant for task lighting. It's a plug-in lamp: the cord runs to a wall outlet and you don't have to wire anything in. The finish is plated.

Where to put it

Hang it above a sofa or beside an armchair in the living room, or above a nightstand in the bedroom. A hallway or dining room wall works too, as long as a wall outlet is within reach of the cord. Keep the shade out of direct sunlight and away from long periods of humidity.

How to install

Fix the wood bracket to the wall where you want the light.
Plug the cord into a wall outlet.

Good to know

Before you start, choose a spot with a wall outlet that the cord can reach.
Keep the fabric shade away from prolonged humidity and direct sunlight.

What makes it good

You can put a lamp on a living room wall without new wiring, because it plugs into a wall outlet.
The fabric shade softens the light, which suits a bedroom in the evening when you want gentle light on the wall.
Mounted on the wall beside the bed, it leaves the bedside table free for a book and a glass of water.
The shade is 17.3 in (44 cm) wide, which gives a bare wall above a sofa or sideboard a clear shape.
The walnut-toned wood bracket and chrome-tone arm go well with wood furniture in a living room or hallway.

WALL LIGHT FROM A PLUG

Lavomel is a plug-in lamp. Its white cord runs down the wall, so the wall behind it needs no new wiring.

A walnut-toned wood bracket and a chrome-tone metal arm hold it on the wall, so it takes no table or floor space.

Common questions

Is this lamp hardwired or plug-in?

It is plug-in. The cord plugs into a wall outlet, so nothing is wired into the wall.

How big is it?

It measures 17.3 in (44 cm) wide and 7.1 in (18 cm) high.

What bulb does it use?

It uses one E27 LED bulb.

Can I dim it?

No, it is not dimmable.

What is it made of?

The shade is fabric, the arm is chrome-tone metal and the wall bracket is walnut-toned wood, with a plated finish.

Can I use it in a bathroom?

No. The fabric shade should be kept away from prolonged moisture and humidity, so keep it out of a bathroom. A bedroom or living room wall suits it instead.
