Meratilo Hardwired Wall Sconce

$213.00

By day this sconce looks like a small piece of natural stone on your wall, pitted travertine with a hint of walnut. After dark, the glass beneath it lays a soft glow down the wall.

A clean wall with no cord to hide: it is wired into your house circuit, so nothing hangs down.
No bulb glaring at you: a white glass globe tucked under the stone keeps it out of sight.
Space back on your bedside table: the sconce goes up on the wall beside the bed.

Description

Meratilo, a travertine dome over glass

Meratilo has a pitted beige travertine dome on a black arm that curves out of a round wall plate, with a small walnut accent on top. Below the stone hangs a white glass globe, so the bulb stays out of sight and the light comes out soft. The light pools low under the globe and a little to each side, with no hard edge. It takes a G9 bulb, LED or Edison, and joins the wiring already in your wall.

Where to put it

Put it on the wall beside a bed in place of a table lamp, or run a pair along a hallway. It also works above a console in an entryway, or as a second light in a living room corner. It needs a wall circuit, and it is made for indoor rooms.

Power: Hardwired, AC 110 to 240 V
Mounting: Wall mounted
Use: Indoor

How to install

This is a hardwired fitting, so it joins the wiring already in your wall and there is nothing to plug in.

What you need: An electrician to make the connection to the circuit.

Have an electrician connect the sconce to the wall circuit and fix it to the wall.

Good to know

The globe sits below the stone dome and lays its light down the wall, so leave clear wall underneath it.
It is made for indoor rooms.

What makes it good

It runs from the house wiring, so nothing trails down a bedroom wall to an outlet.
The white glass globe sits under the stone and spreads light onto the wall, so a bedside stays soft with the bulb out of sight.
The bulb is yours to pick, so the light behind the glass in a hallway is the one you want.
At 5.9 in (15 cm) wide it fits a narrow hallway wall or the gap between a bed and a closet.
The pitted stone and the black metal read as plain materials, which suits a living room where the fitting is on show.

CONNECTED ONCE AND PERMANENT

Putting Meratilo up is one job for an electrician, and once that is done the sconce stays where it is.

No outlet is needed on that stretch of wall. What shows is the stone dome and the black arm holding it.

THE BULB IS YOUR CHOICE

The socket takes a G9 bulb, and an LED or an Edison bulb will fit it. What glows behind the white glass is the bulb you pick.

Under the stone dome the white glass evens out whichever one you use, so the bulb itself never shows and the light stays soft on the wall.

IT TAKES THE LAMP'S PLACE

Fixed on the wall beside the bed, it lights the corner and leaves the table below free for books and a glass of water.

The white globe hangs under the travertine dome and lays a soft pool of light on the wall and across the surface underneath.

Common questions

Do I need an electrician to put it up?

Yes. It is a hardwired fitting that connects to the circuit in your wall and runs on AC 110 to 240 V, so an electrician should make the connection. There is no plug and no cord.

How do I turn it on?

There is no switch on the fixture. It is switched on the circuit it is wired into, and a switch is not supplied with it.

What bulb does it take?

A G9 bulb. Both LED and Edison style bulbs fit the socket, so you can pick the bulb for the light you want behind the glass.

What is it made of?

A pitted beige travertine dome with a walnut accent on top, a black metal arm and backplate, and a white glass globe below the stone that keeps the bulb out of sight.

How big is it?

It is 5.9 in (15 cm) wide and 9.1 in (23 cm) high.

Where does it work best?

At 5.9 in (15 cm) across it does not ask for much wall, so it sits well along a hallway or above a console in an entryway. It is made for indoor rooms.
