Skip the electrician: its cord plugs into an ordinary wall outlet.
No wall switch needed to turn it on: there's a switch on the cord.

Description

Milvaro, a plug-in globe for the wall

A round backplate carries a short arm and an upright stem, with a broad shallow disc set over a frosted glass globe. The globe glows below the disc, so the light spreads outward and down and pools softly on the wall next to it, which gives you a low evening light beside a bed or a sofa. A switch on the cord turns it on and off, and the cord runs from the backplate to an ordinary outlet. The metal body comes in white, black or gray.

Where to put it

Put it beside the bed in place of a nightstand lamp, or on the wall behind a sofa or an armchair for evening light. It also suits an entry wall above a bench, lighting the corner from the wall. Indoors only, away from water.

Size and details

Type: plug-in wall sconce with a glass globe shade
Sizes: 9.8 in (25 cm) wide, 10.2 in (26 cm) high
Material: metal body in white, black or gray, frosted glass globe
Light source: G9 socket, takes an LED or Edison bulb
Control: switch on the cord
Power: plug-in, 110V to 240V
Mounting: wall mounted
Use: indoor use, away from water

How to install

This sconce fixes to the wall and runs from a wall outlet, so nothing connects to your house wiring.

Pick the spot on the wall and check that the cord reaches an outlet without crossing a walkway.
Hold the lamp against the wall at the height you want and mark where the round backplate sits.
Fix the backplate to the wall.
Fit a G9 bulb into the socket.
Plug the cord into the outlet and switch the lamp on at the cord.

Good to know

The globe is glass, so support the lamp by its metal body rather than the globe when you fit the bulb.
The cord plugs into a wall outlet.

What makes it good

It runs from an ordinary outlet, so you can put a light on a living room wall without an electrician or a new circuit.
The frosted globe spreads the light and softens it at a bedside, where a bare bulb would glare.
The switch sits on the cord, so you turn the light on and off at the lamp without wiring anything in.
The G9 socket takes an LED or an Edison bulb, so you choose the look and the light the room gets.
Pick white, black or gray depending on whether you want it to blend into a pale hallway wall or show up against a darker one.

THIS WALL WAS NEVER WIRED

The round backplate holds it in place and the power comes from an outlet through the cord. No circuit has to be opened for it.

That means a living room wall can carry a light even where nothing was wired for one. It goes where you want the light rather than where a circuit already runs.

LIGHT THROUGH FROSTED GLASS

The globe is frosted glass, so the bulb inside is not read as a hard bright point. The light comes through the glass and travels outward and down.

A broad shallow disc sits above the globe, and the light lands as a soft pool on the wall beside the bed.

SET OVER THE ENTRY BENCH

Mounted above a bench by the door, the sconce lights the corner from the wall, so the bench top is left free for whatever you put down there.

It is 9.8 in (25 cm) across and 10.2 in (26 cm) high, small enough for a narrow entry wall, and the light falls down onto the bench.

Common questions

Does it need wiring or an electrician?

No. The round backplate holds it on the wall and the power comes from an outlet through the cord, so nothing is connected to your house wiring.

What bulb does it take?

The socket is G9. You can fit an LED or an Edison style G9 bulb, which means the warmth and the brightness of the light are down to the bulb you choose.

How do I turn it on and off?

There is an on and off switch on the cord, so you work the lamp at the cord itself.

How does it attach to the wall?

The round backplate at the back of the lamp is fixed to the wall. The arm and stem carry the disc and globe out from there.

Which plug do I get?

It plugs into a wall outlet. The lamp runs on 110V to 240V.

What colors does it come in?

The metal body comes in white, black or gray. The globe is frosted glass on all three.

Can I put it in a bathroom?

It is made for indoor use and it is not waterproof, so keep it out of a bathroom and pick a dry spot for it.

How big is it?

It measures 9.8 in (25 cm) across and 10.2 in (26 cm) high, so it takes a small patch of wall beside a bed or above a bench.
