Description

Nerisalo, a travertine sconce with warm light

Nerisalo is a tall, narrow piece of beige travertine with a curved face and a hollowed open top. The stone still has its natural pits and lines, and you can see that texture up close. A slim slot runs down from the top to a small round opening that glows. Light also rises out of the top and spreads onto the wall around it. The warm light comes from one 7 W LED bulb. The cord plugs into a wall outlet, and you switch it on and off with a knob.

Where to put it

Put it beside the bed instead of using a table lamp, on a living room wall above a sideboard, or on the wall by the stairs or the front door. It works in a dining room, an entry or a study too. It is made for indoor use and is not water resistant.

What makes it good

The cord plugs into a wall outlet, so you can light a bedroom or hallway wall without new wiring.
The beige travertine has its own pits and lines, so a living room wall gets natural texture even when the lamp is off.
Warm light washes up the wall from the open top, which suits a bedside in the evening.
It is tall and slim enough for the narrow stretch of wall beside a bed, a doorway or a staircase.
One knob turns it on and off, so a light by the stairs or in a study stays simple to use.
