Description

Serrinte, a veined stone disc wall light

Serrinte is a pale stone face held in a brass finish cradle, on a slim stem that runs down to a small tapered tip. Veining crosses the face. Lit, the whole face glows and lays a soft pool of light on the plaster beside it. It runs on household power, and a push button switch turns it on and off. It takes an E14 bulb, LED or Edison style, up to 40 W, so you set how bright it is and can change that later.

Where to put it

Put one beside a bed in place of a table lamp, or a pair either side of a sofa in the living room. It also suits a hallway or entryway wall at eye level, and a stair landing above the handrail. Keep it to indoor rooms.

How to install

Serrinte is held on the wall by the round plate behind the top, with a smaller plate lower down behind the stem and the face standing off the plaster.

What you need: An E14 bulb rated up to 40 W if you are fitting your own.

Hold the lamp against the wall and check the height, remembering the lit face sits at the top and the stem hangs below it.
Fix the lamp in place on the wall.
Connect it to household power.
Fit the bulb into the E14 socket and stay within 40 W.
Switch it on.

Good to know

Any bulb supplied with the lamp is not dimmable, so fit your own E14 bulb within 40 W if you want a different light.
It is made for indoor rooms.

What makes it good

In a hallway the lit face sits at eye level and glows as a single circle.
Once the main light is off, it gives a living room corner a second, quieter light.
The bulb is yours to swap, up to 40 W, and with it the light level beside a bed or an armchair.
Put one beside a bed, or a matching pair either side of it.
Veining crosses the pale face, something to look at on the wall with the light off.

Serrinte brass wall sconce lit in a hallway, held by a round top plate and a smaller plate behind the stem

HELD BY TWO WALL PLATES

A round plate behind the top holds Serrinte to the wall, and a smaller plate lower down sits behind the stem.

Once it is fixed, the face stands off the plaster with the stem running down below it.

THE STONE FACE LIGHTS UP

Lit, the whole face glows and the light spills onto the plaster next to it.

After dark, with the ceiling light off, that glow sits beside the armchair in the living room.

Serrinte brass bedside lamp lighting a bedroom from the wall, leaving the table free

ONE LESS LAMP TO PLACE

Mounted on the bedroom wall, it lights the corner beside the bed and leaves the table below for what you keep there.

The lit face sits at the top of the stem above the table, so no lamp has to stand on the surface underneath.

Common questions

Which bulb does it take?

It takes an E14 bulb, LED or Edison style, up to 40 W. Where a bulb is supplied it is not dimmable.

Can I dim it?

Treat it as an on and off light. Any bulb supplied with it is not dimmable, so check the bulb and the control you plan to use before you count on dimming.

How do I turn it on?

It is operated by a push button switch.

How does it mount on the wall?

It is wall mounted, using the round plate behind the face at the top, with a smaller plate lower down behind the stem.

Which size should I choose?

The 12.6 in (32 cm) lamp suits a shorter run of wall, such as beside a bed or above a hallway console. The 24.4 in (62 cm) one is for a taller stretch of wall where a small lamp would get lost.

What is it made of?

Metal in a brass finish, with a pale stone face that carries visible veining.

Can it go in a bathroom?

No. It is made for indoor rooms such as a bedroom or a hallway, so keep it out of a bathroom.
