Description

Talmevi, a woven rattan plug-in wall sconce

Talmevi has a curved shade of woven natural bamboo and rattan that sits against the wall. The shade is open at the top and bottom, and the bamboo body is a wood color. When the light is on, it comes through the gaps in the weave. It takes one E27 LED bulb of up to 60 W, sold separately. The cord plugs into a wall outlet and a knob switch turns the light on and off, though it does not dim. Up close, each woven strip is a little different from the next.

Where to put it

In a bedroom, hang it beside the bed and the nightstand stays free for a book and a glass of water. It also suits a living room wall near an armchair, or a narrow hallway or landing wall that a bigger fixture would crowd. It is made for indoor use, away from damp.

Good to know

Use it indoors and keep it away from damp.
The bulb is not included, so have one E27 bulb of up to 60 W ready before you switch it on.

What makes it good

The cord plugs into a wall outlet, so you can light a bedroom or hallway wall without new wiring.
The natural bamboo and rattan give a plain living room wall a warm, woven texture.
It is 7.9 in (20 cm) wide, which fits a narrow hallway wall or the space beside a headboard.
The plain knob switch turns it on and off and needs no app or pairing, so anyone in the house can use it in a hallway.
Because it mounts on the wall, the top of a nightstand or hall console stays free for other things.

WOVEN LIGHT WITHOUT NEW WIRING

The light is mounted on the wall beside a bed, above a wooden nightstand holding a book and a glass of water.

The shade is woven from natural bamboo and rattan in an open grid, so the light shows through the weave once it is on.
