Tanelia Cordless Wall Sconce

$59.00

Warm light fans out above and below this little square and lands softly on your wall. It gives a bare spot beside the sofa or the bed a calm evening glow.

No electrician, no wiring: a rechargeable battery runs it, and the body sits on a plate you fix to the wall.
Charges like your other small gadgets: it plugs in over USB.
Stays on, or lights up when you walk by: a button picks the mode, and the remote in the box dims it.
Fits the narrow bit of wall you have: it suits the space beside a door or between frames.

Description

Tanelia, a small square wall light

Tanelia is a small square aluminium block, 3.9 in (10 cm) across and 3.1 in (8 cm) deep, with rounded side edges and open ends top and bottom. The light fans out above and below the body and lands on the wall. It is cordless: a 4000 mAh battery runs it, and it charges over USB. A button on the body sets it to stay on, or to switch on by itself when someone walks by. The remote in the box dims the light for the evening. The body sits on a plate you fix to the wall, and the finish comes in black, white or wood grain.

Where to put it

In a living room it gives a soft second light near the sofa. A hallway with no socket takes one beside the doorway, or a pair along a landing. In a bedroom, one on each side of the bed lights the wall and leaves the table clear.

How to install

Tanelia goes up in two parts. The plate is fixed to the wall and the light sits on the plate. Nothing connects to your house electrics.

What you need: the plate, screws and wall plugs from the box, and the tools your wall takes.

Hold the wall plate where you want the light, check the height and mark the holes.
Fix the plate to the wall with the screws and wall plugs.
Set the body onto the plate.
Switch it on at the body and pick steady-on or motion mode.

Good to know

Charge it over USB before you put it up.
Use the remote to dim the light.
Leave clear wall at the top and bottom when you pick the height.

What makes it good

Wireless, so a room with no socket nearby can still have light.
Set it to stay on, or to light up on its own when someone walks past in a dark hallway.
The light washes the wall beside a sofa or a bed.
Black and white suit a plain bedroom, and the wood grain warms a hallway.
The remote dims it, so the light can stay low in a bedroom at night.
At 3.9 in (10 cm) square it takes little room in a narrow hallway.

IT LIGHTS AN UNWIRED WALL

It runs on its own power, so the light can go on a hallway wall with nothing wired behind it.

Nothing runs down to the floor, and there is no cable to hide along the wall.

DIMMED FOR THE LIVING ROOM

The light is warm and the remote dims it, so you choose how much of it the living room gets.

Set low, it is the light you leave on beside the sofa in the evening, and you can bring it up again when the room needs more.

A LANDING LIGHT AT NIGHT

The face is 3.9 in (10 cm) square and the light spreads up and down the wall in broad fans, so a fitting this small is enough to keep a landing lit once the ceiling light is off.

It stands 3.1 in (8 cm) out from the wall and goes at whatever height you pick, so you can set it where the light reaches the top steps as well as the wall above it.

Common questions

Does it need wiring or an electrician?

No. It runs on its own power and the plate fixes to the wall with mounting hardware, so nothing is connected to your house electrics.

How does it attach to the wall?

A rectangular plate is fixed to the wall first, and the body of the light sits on that plate.

How do I charge it?

It has a 4000 mAh battery that charges over USB, so you plug it in the way you charge a small device.

Can I dim it?

Yes. The remote control in the box dims it, so it can sit low beside a sofa in the evening or run brighter when you want more light in the room.

What color is the light?

It gives a warm light, the kind you want in a living room in the evening.

How do you switch it on?

Turn it on with the switch on the body. A button picks the mode: steady-on keeps the light on, and motion mode turns it on when someone walks by. The remote dims it.

How big is it and where will it fit?

It is 3.9 in (10 cm) wide, 3.9 in (10 cm) high and 3.1 in (8 cm) deep, so it fits a narrow piece of wall such as the space beside a door or between two frames.

What is it made of?

The body is aluminium. It comes in black, white or wood grain, so the wood is a finish rather than solid wood.
