Description

Tavessi, a glass dome with directed light

Tavessi has an open glass dome, with a tubular light visible through the shade. On the black version, the glossy dark glass sits on a curved arm fixed to a narrow rectangular wall plate. You can tilt the arm to aim the light down and forward toward your bedside reading spot. The light comes from an integrated LED; choose warm white or cold white when you order. Tavessi connects to household wiring and uses a separate wall switch. It is available in black and white finishes.

Where to put it

Place Tavessi beside the bed, where the tilting arm puts the light on your book. In a hallway it adds a wall accent with no floor lamp below. It also works beside a mirror in a living room.

How to install

An electrician installs Tavessi at a wall junction box.

What you need: An electrician, a junction box behind the mounting plate, mounting hardware and a separate wall switch

Have an electrician mount the fixture at the junction box and connect the driver and the fixture wires to the home's power supply.

Good to know

The wall switch is separate, so plan where you want it before the electrician starts.
The wiring lands at the junction box behind the plate, so the position of the box sets the final height of the shade.

What makes it good

Tilt the arm so the light falls on your book while you read in bed.
The wiring joins at a junction box behind the plate, so no power cord runs down a hallway wall.
Mount it above a console and the top stays free for your other things.
Choose warm white or cold white light when you order, for a bedroom or a living room.
The light source stays visible through the glass and makes a lit accent on the wall.

IT JOINS THE HOUSE WIRING

The narrow metal plate sits flush to the finished wall, with no cord dropping from it.

There is no outlet on this wall, because the fixture takes its power from inside the wall behind the plate.

A POOL FOR BEDTIME READING

The open lower edge of the glass dome lets the light fall onto the open book beside the bed.

The shade is angled down and forward, so the light lands on the page.
