Vesomira Wall Sconce

$197.00

Warm wood grain under a slender curve of gold gives a bare wall something good to look at, even with the light off. After dark, the glow falls down the wall and onto the seat below.

No cord to tuck away: it is hardwired into the house wiring, so the wall stays clear.
A finish to suit your room: choose a light wood, walnut or black shade with a gold or matching plate.
Pick your own glow: the socket takes a replaceable LED or Edison bulb, so you choose how warm and bright.

Description

Vesomira, a wood cone wall light

Vesomira's shade is a cone with visible wood grain, hung from a slim arm that curves up and back to a round backplate. A collar and joint sit above the shade. The cone is open at the bottom, so the light runs down the wall and onto whatever sits below it. It wires into the house circuit, and the socket takes a standard E26 or E27 bulb, LED or Edison, so you pick the light it gives.

Where to put it

Beside a bed it sits at reading height and lights the page and the table below. Over an armchair or at the end of a sofa it gives a living room some accent light. A hallway takes one, or a pair spaced along the wall. Keep it indoors and dry.

How to install

This sconce joins the house wiring, so an electrician puts it up.

What you need: An electrician and a bulb with an E26 or E27 base.

Have an electrician connect the sconce to the house wiring and fix the canopy to the wall.
Fit a bulb into the socket and test the light.

Good to know

Indoor, dry locations only.
The bulb you fit decides how bright and how warm the light is, so choose it with the room in mind.

What makes it good

Beside a bed the cone puts its light down on the page and the table below.
Nothing has to stand on the bedside table or the hallway console, since the lamp keeps its own place on the wall.
The socket takes a replaceable E26 or E27 bulb, so one room can take a warm Edison bulb and another a brighter one.
Six shade and plate combinations, light wood through walnut to black with a gold or matching plate, so it can follow the hardware already in the room.
It runs off the house circuit, so there is nothing to plug in or charge.

WIRED IN AND CLOSED UP

An electrician connects the sconce to the house circuit when the light goes up, and that work happens once. What you see afterward is the round plate flat against the wall.

Nothing runs down from it and there is nothing to hide along the baseboard. The wall around the sconce stays plain.

THE CONE SENDS LIGHT DOWN

The shade is open at the bottom and closed around the sides, so the light lands on the wall and the seat below.

That suits a chair you read in or a stretch of wall you want picked out. The bulb you fit sets how warm and how strong that light is.

INSTEAD OF A BEDSIDE LAMP

Mounted on the wall beside the bed, the cone points its light down onto the bed and the surface under it, at the height set when it went up.

The table below stays free for a book and a glass, because no lamp stands on it and no cord crosses it.

Common questions

Does it need an electrician?

Yes. It is hardwired, so professional installation is recommended. An electrician connects it to the house wiring and fixes the canopy to the wall.

What bulbs does it take?

A replaceable bulb with an E26 or E27 base, LED or Edison. The bulb you fit sets how warm and how bright the light is, and it can be changed later in a minute.

How big is it?

The shade is 6.7 in (17 cm) across and the fixture stands 11.0 in (28 cm) tall, so it keeps to a narrow strip of wall beside a bed or above a console.

What colors does it come in?

Six combinations. A wood color or walnut color shade with a gold plate or a matching plate, and a black shade with a gold plate or a black plate. The arm and the collar carry a gold finish.

Is it bright enough to read by?

It sends its light down onto the bed or the seat below. It is made for bedside reading and accent light. How much light you get depends on the bulb you fit.

Can it go in a bathroom?

It is an indoor fitting that is not waterproof, so keep it out of a bathroom and to dry indoor spots.

What is it made of?

Metal and wood. The arm and the collar carry a gold finish, and the cone shade shows its wood grain.
